Our client, Duracell, a leading company in the Consumer Goods industry, is launching the operations of its Global Business Services in Costa Rica and is hiring for the following position:

HR Manager - Americas Payroll Leader

Main functions:


  • Develop and lead a centralized payroll service for the USA & Canada,
  • ensuring accurate and timely delivery of payroll to over 1,800 employees, including executives.​
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local payroll regulations, labor laws, and tax requirements across the Americas.​
  • Direct, develop, and oversee payroll operations, including software updates, GL coding, quarterly/year-end processing, Canadian ROEs, and tax filings.​
  • Troubleshoot and resolve payroll issues promptly; partner with ADP to ensure tax liabilities are remitted accurately and on time.​
  • Maintain and process accurate payroll records and reports; handle time clock integrations and shadow payrolls for expats.​
  • Liaise with third-party vendors (e.g., ADP, timekeeping systems) to ensure high-quality, compliant service delivery.​
  • Provide guidance and training to HR teams and managers on payroll-related procedures.​
  • Respond timely to internal/external inquiries including state tax setups, unemployment insurance, garnishments, and audits.​
  • Support internal and external audits and participate in special projects as assigned.​
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to payroll systems and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.


Profile required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.​
  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll and benefits administration experience, with strong focus on U.S. and Canadian payroll operations.​
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. payroll laws and tax regulations across multiple states and local jurisdictions.​
  • Experience with quarterly and year-end federal, state, and local tax processes.​
  • Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now,
  • Celergo; ADP Smart Compliance and custom reporting experience preferred.​
  • Familiarity with Oracle HRIS system is a plus.​
  • Strong finance and accounting acumen, including GL processing and payroll validation.​
  • Knowledge of U.S. garnishment procedures and court order processing.​
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and driving performance improvements.​
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.​
  • Payroll certification (e.g., CPP) is a plus.​
  • Advanced English proficiency.
