Our client, Duracell, a leading company in the Consumer Goods industry, is launching the operations of its Global Business Services in Costa Rica and is hiring for the following position:

Senior Payroll Specialist – USA & Canada

Main functions:


  • Oversee and process centralized payroll for associates across all fifty states and Canada, ensuring compliance with all applicable payroll regulations.​
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of payrolls, including executives and retirees.​
  • Manage payroll taxes, statutory deductions, and benefit plan entries (401k, Roth, 409A, etc.), ensuring compliance with tax laws.​
  • Manage timecard collection, verification, and approval for manufacturing plants, troubleshooting and resolving issues as needed.​
  • Serve as subject matter expert on ADP Workforce Now payroll configurations and partner with ADP and other vendors to resolve payroll issues.​
  • Provide support for internal and external audit inquiries, focusing on payroll accuracy and documentation.​
  • Complete payroll reporting requirements per state regulations, including quarterly and year-end processes.​
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of strategies for payroll process improvement and operational efficiency.​
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and timecard information, and provide training and guidance to HR colleagues and managers.​
  • Manage and maintain records of Employee Recognition programs and special imputed income (e.g., wellness reimbursements).


Profile required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.​
  • 5–10 years of experience in centralized payroll processing, preferably with ADP Workforce Now.​
  • In-depth knowledge of US and Canadian payroll laws, federal labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory benefits.​
  • Experience with multi-state payroll; international experience preferred.​
  • Strong proficiency in payroll systems (ADP Workforce Now, Celergo, Oracle HRIS).​
  • Payroll certification (e.g., FPC, CPP) preferred.​
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.​
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.​
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills.​
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and collaborating with cross-functional teams.​
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.​
  • Discretion and integrity in handling confidential employee information.​
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and helping others.
